No bounds
EDMOND, Okla. -- Driving north on Kelly (or is it "Kelley"?) Avenue in Edmond this morning, I was hoping to get my oil changed at a locally-owned place.
It was a crisp, autumn morning. Approximately 10:45 a.m. The Mighty Lemon Drops were playing on the stereo - "No Bounds," from their 1988 World Without End CD was blasting with a melancholy chime with lyrics that could be interpreted in a number of ways, including that of an alien abduction.
"There's a thought in my head / It's sticking in my mind / I don't know what to look for / I know just what I'll find .. close your eyes, there are no bounds ..." (funny, as I am currently reading Dr. John C. Lilly's autobiography, which includes a lot about his wild experiences in sensory deprivation tanks).
It was then, grooving to the Drops, that I had a curious sighting. While passing through the intersection of 33rd Street, that I noticed an object hanging against the blue background of the morning sky. It was oval-shaped. Tic-Tac, perhaps? Too faraway to tell.
A UFO? At this hour? And just after I had read an online news story about a congressional discussion of UFOs ... or, in the current parlance of our times "UAPs." I hate the term "UAPs." But, I know "UFO" carries a helluva lot of baggage.
Anyway, I watched this object, secretly wanting it to move along its merry way in the fashion of any and all aircraft that I am familiar with. This, it did not do.
At about 18th and Kelly, I found a parking lot to pull into, so as to get a better look at whatever this was. While I made my turn, I briefly lost sight of the object as I pulled into the parking lot, as a tree blocked my view. But once I had the full sky back in view, I could no longer see the elusive, white object that was baffling me.
At this point I was recalling how a decade earlier, at Dust Devil Dreams - at Red Dirt Report - I had investigated the nearby intersection of 33rd and Broadway Extension in Edmond. It was there, in September 2013, that a woman report to the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, Washington, that she and her daughter had witnessed a "jellyfish UFO" hovering overhead. Curious enough, indeed!
But later, I came across an old report from July 1969, which noted that workmen, building a new warehouse at 122nd and Broadway Extension, had uncovered a strange "flooring" below the dirt. It was of unknown origin. At the time, The Daily Oklahoman reported that "geologists were at a loss" to explain the tile flooring or an artifact discovered there.
In 2015 I went to the business built over this particular site and there was nothing left of it, although I did interview a man whose father had operated the warehouses and knew of the discovery at that time - which still remains unexplained.
AUTUMN OBJECTS
It was in October 2022, while on a hike around Lake McMurtry, outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma, that the Scout troop I was with witnessed a similar white object slowing moving overhead, against a bright, blue sky. The following October, in 2023, also in Stillwater, Oklahoma while attending an Oklahoma State University football game, I saw a similar object high in the sky. Same actions. Slow, deliberate. Strange all around.
Are these Chinese spy balloons? Some unusual technology? They are openly talking about this stuff on Capitol Hill, in a fashion never before seen in American political history. Part of me is skeptical, and some of the info seems like, well, disinfo. It seems forced and silly. I want to believe something is truly being investigated but I have some serious doubts.I just finished reading F.W. Holiday's 1973 book The Dragon and The Disc. It's Holiday's investigation into not only the Loch Ness Monster, but into "monsters" seen in other bodies of water in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. There is a connection - in Keelian fashion - between worm-like "monsters" dwelling in dark lochs and the saucer cults of old. I emailed my old pal Bill Goffrier (The Embarrassment, Big Dipper) about this this evening. He is quite familiar with the topic of UFOs and water-horses of the British isles. I hope to get his take on this soon.
