By Andrew W. Griffin Posted: October 15, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY – Movie and television actor, musician, radio host and sync master Andras Jones is clearly a man of many talents. Creativity flows through this 45-year-old’s veins and that was clearly evident during a relaxed and fascinating conversation with Jones on a recent autumn afternoon. Having recently contributed to the Alan Abbadessa-Green-edited  Sync Book , which led to the publication of his first book,  Accidental Initiations: The Kabbalistic Tree of Olympia  (Sync Book Press), Jones was actually in central Oklahoma this week primarily participating in a fan event surrounding  his role as Rick Johnson in the 1988 hit horror film  A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Master,  the fourth in that series. “I’ve been noshing at the wisdom buffet for as long as I can remember,” Jones writes in the fascinating  Accidental Initiations . He sounds like our kind of guy! And through a friend who embraces s...

No bounds

EDMOND, Okla. -- Driving north on Kelly (or is it "Kelley"?) Avenue in Edmond this morning, I was hoping to get my oil changed at a locally-owned place.  It was a crisp, autumn morning. Approximately 10:45 a.m. The Mighty Lemon Drops were playing on the stereo - "No Bounds," from their 1988 World Without End CD was blasting with a melancholy chime with lyrics that could be interpreted in a number of ways, including that of an alien abduction. " There's a thought in my head / It's sticking in my mind / I don't know what to look for / I know just what I'll find .. close your eyes, there are no bounds ..." (funny, as I am currently reading Dr. John C. Lilly's autobiography, which includes a lot about his wild experiences in sensory deprivation tanks).  It was then, grooving to the Drops, that I had a curious sighting. While passing through the intersection of 33rd Street, that I noticed an object hanging against the blue background of t...

ANDREW W. GRIFFIN  |  AUGUST 2, 2017 CATEGORY:  DUST DEVIL DREAMS OKLAHOMA CITY – Until today, I had never heard of the 1891 book  E xtraordinary Experiences of Little Captain Doppelkop on the Shores of Bubbleland , written by one Ingersoll Lockwood. Why did that obscure children’s book title – from over a century ago – capture my attention? Because it is one of the many odd and strangely prescient books Lockwood wrote. And that name, “ Doppelkop ”? The nickname of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper’s Black Lodge doppelganger is known as “ DoppelCoop . ” Now, I have not read this book, obviously, only having just learned about it. But “Bubbleland” is curious, only in that the  Black Lodge enters our earthly plane via the detonation of the first atomic bomb  at Trinity site at White Sands, New Mexico on July 16, 1945.  Reddit  fans of  Twin Peaks  speculate that DoppelCoop is trying to kick off a nuclear war to allow more Bl...
